Perfect processes lead to perfect results

OUR METHODOLOGY

Living up to our guiding principles of integrity, vision, perseverance, perfect and timely means having the people, process and firepower to do so on a consistent, predictable basis.

That's why we develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for each client. Based on a tried-and-true methodology, every SOP is customized to the client. An SOP is thought out, methodical and often based on senior management's discussions with the client about how to handle a project with the utmost efficiency. Using the SOP, a project manager tracks each job, knows where it is any time in the plant, and stays in constant touch with you during the process so you always know the current status of your printing or mailing project.

Although standardized, each SOP is specific to the customer's needs. And we constantly review and revamp, making sure the SOP is producing perfect and timely results for you.

We’re serious about security

INFORMATION SECURITY

We recognize and value the importance of you and your customers' data. And that's why we are adamant about security during every step of the printing and mailing process. Below are the rigorous steps we take to protect your organization's information.

  • Personnel

All employees, authorized client representatives, and escorted authorized observers are issued security coded identification badges which must be worn at all times. Badges must be used to pass through all door entries. ID badges are issued according to level of security clearance. At no time will anyone be allowed unescorted into any area in which they don't have security clearance.

  • Data Transfer

For any confidential job that requires security, a highly protected SFTP site is used for data downloads. Files are destroyed after production. During production, the product is under the direct control/possession of a designated individual at all times. All employees sign non-disclosure agreements. If the plant shuts down, or any printed product must be left unattended, it is stored in a locked storage area sealed by a unique identification number and is only accessible by badge during work hours. The seal is recorded in our secure storage log, and rights to break the seal are limited to specific employees. After hours, our security system is programmed to limit access only to key, designated employees. Video cameras monitor the entire premises 24/7.

  • Secure Data Management

Once customer data is processed, it is encrypted and stored on a system that is backed up to an offsite location. We keep customer data on a secure, needs-based access system, with Intrusion Detection Systems at the perimeter. We shred all waste materials from the manufacturing process. Limited personnel have access to secure data.

  • Data Storage
All data is stored at our colocated data center in Seattle, WA. Our Data Center facility requires a three factor authentication (fingerprint, combination and card access) to physically access the facility. We are point-to-point connected to our co-location via diverse fiber. To guard against catastrophic loss, all files on our server are backed up daily to a secure secondary site maintained at our corporate headquarters in Everett, WA.
  • Media Handling

Controls are in place to appropriately classify, label and protect sensitive information on backup media, in hardcopy and in other forms while in transit and storage, and to destroy sensitive data in accordance with established retention policies. Some media handling policies are customer specific, depending on level of security required. All files are deleted upon completion with verification of removal by authorized personnel. All hard copies of materials produced that are not delivered to the customer are shredded. All customer supplied disks and hard copies are returned to customer.

  • Disaster Recovery

We have an established disaster recovery resource partner that is located out of state. This company is equal to K&H when it comes to capacity and security. This company works with financial and HIPAA records on a daily basis. We would partner with them to store up to a month's worth of inventory in the event we were not able to get our main manufacturing plant up and running.

We have had no loss of business due to disasters, labor issues or contingency events in the past. However, we have a Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan available upon request. K&H's primary server systems are operated in one of the largest colocation centers in the country, located in Seattle, WA.

In the event of an unforeseeable circumstance, K&H will immediately communicate any and all deviations from normal business practices, thus keeping customers notified and up to date. Telecommunications, work-in-progress, internet, prepress, customer service functions and all production services would be transferred and customer work would continue to be produced.

We’ve been committed to a sustainable business for over a century

ENVIRONMENT

Even before green was golden, we were driven to use fewer resources to reduce waste and lower our customers' costs.

Lean Manufacturing

We utilize lean manufacturing practices in nearly everything we do. Lean practices deliver lower costs and less waste. We are constantly working to improve the workflow of our printing, data and mailing operations, and to cut down the number of processes a project has to go through from start to finish. Less waste, less wondering, more green.

Reduce and Recycle

We manage our electricity to reduce our costs and therefore yours. And we've been recycling for over 50 years, long before it was fashionable. Quarterly we meet to review current plant manufacturing processes to identify problems and waste, so we can create a more efficient operation.

Sustainability

We've been in business for over a century and our employees stay with us for a very long time. In our minds, that longevity and commitment prove our approach is sustainable. And it's not just the environment that benefits from stewardship. Humanity does too.
